During the mid-1980s, the McLaren Formula 1 team dominated the sport with the ‘TAG’ branded power units. The 1.5-litre V6 twin turbo Porsche engines developed in excess of 1,000hp at their peak, during qualifying. As a test mule for the engine development, Porsche used a 930 Turbo roadcar, still retained by the McLaren team today. It is this piece of ultimate Formula 1 heritage that was the basis for the 930 TAG Turbo project by Lanzante.
TAG Turbo
Unveiled at Rennsport in 2018, the 930 TAG Turbo by Lanzante is a modern engineering showcase, coupling a Formula 1 engine with genuine race history, to one of the most iconic bodyshapes in the automotive world. The limited run consists of 11 road cars and three further lightweight ‘Championship’ models, and each is as unique as the race engine installed beneath the carbon fibre engine cover. No two cars will be finished in the same colour, or with the same specification.

TAG Championship
The lightweight TAG Championship is a specially designed and engineered collection of just three cars – honouring the three consecutive World Championships secured between 1984-1986.
A further enhancement over the TAG Turbo, the overall package of the Championship model is more focused towards the Formula 1 cars which they pay homage to, with subtle details across the interior and exterior. They honour the outrageous power and performance of the golden era of Formula 1, while utilising state-of-the-art motorsport technology and extensive use of carbon fibre helping to minimise weight. This crash diet sees the TAG Championship tip the scales at just 920kg – an impressive saving of more than 430kg over the original 930 Turbo donor car.
