P1 GT / GTR-18

The Lanzante P1 GT was modelled from the original McLaren F1 GTs, built during the 1990s. The original car evolved from the original base road car, with updates and engineering developments made in order to homologate the race car for the 1997 GTR race season. This ultra-limited edition roadcar, with only three cars plus a prototype, was the basis for the 24 Hours of Le Mans class-winning racer which would eventually be termed the ‘Longtail’.

The bespoke P1 GT project was created along these same lines, bringing the dynamic and visual drama of the hardcore, track-only GTR model, but with some of the more refined elements from the roadcar.

The P1 GTR-18 was launched to honour the final specification of McLaren F1 GTRs racecars: the F1 GTR-97.

Externally, both models feature unique characteristics including a larger front splitter, revised rear wing and pylons, enhanced roof scoop, and louvered front wings. These external changes provide enhanced downforce levels, and the suspension system from the Lanzante P1 LM is fitted to manage this increase.

Inside, the cabins show the main differences between the models. The P1 GT is fitted with luxuries from the P1 roadcar, including the more padded and comfortable seats, heating and air conditioning, in-car entertainment, electric windows and carpeting.

A more track focused, raw development than the P1 GT, each of the GTR-18 models are fitted with F1 GTR seats and harnesses, exposed carbon fibre, void of soundproofing, and 40kg lighter.
